Cell phone protection removed from Freedom Flex
Cell phone protection up to $800 per claim, $1,000 per 12 months → No cell phone protection
Chase updated the Freedom Flex Guide to Benefits to state that cell phone protection covers eligible losses incurred through September 19, 2026, and is discontinued on September 20, 2026. The benefit, available when the full monthly wireless bill is paid with the card, currently pays up to $800 per approved claim with a $50 deductible, limited to two claims and $1,000 per 12-month period. The change surfaced in the benefits guide on July 10, 2026 and Chase notified cardholders on July 15, 2026. On the same date, Chase is eliminating the card's 3% foreign transaction fee; no replacement protection benefit was announced.
What to do: Move your monthly wireless bill to another card with phone coverage before September 20; losses through September 19 remain claimable.
