Miles and status earning cut up to 90% on basic fares for non-cardholders

Announced in late August 2026 and effective for bookings made on or after September 1, 2026, Frontier Miles replaces its flat earning structure with rates that vary by fare type and credit card status. General members currently earn 10 miles and 10 status points per eligible dollar on any fare (12x–20x with elite status); under the new structure, non-cardholders earn 1x on Basic fares and 6x on Economy, Premium, or Business bundles, while Frontier Airlines World Mastercard holders earn 4x on Basic fares and 12x on bundles, with higher rates at each elite tier. Tickets purchased by August 31 retain the current earning rates. View from the Wing calculates that a non-cardholder buying Basic fares now needs roughly $15,000 in spending to reach Silver status versus $1,000 today, and reports that Silver and Gold qualification thresholds also rise (10,000 to 15,000 and 20,000 to 25,000 points) even as the Diamond threshold falls to 75,000.

What to do: Book any planned Frontier travel by August 31 to earn at current rates; after that, only bundled fares earn meaningfully.
