Uber One ride credits reduced from 6% to 5%

6% Uber One credits on rides5%

In an email to members sent around August 15, 2026, Uber announced that eligible rides will earn 5% back in Uber One credits instead of 6%, effective "in the coming weeks" with no firm date given; the date above is the announcement date. Credits remain redeemable on rides and Uber Eats orders, and the same email added household sharing (one additional adult plus teens) and 10% credits on hotel bookings through Uber. The cut reduces bonus earning by one-sixth and raises the ride spend needed to recoup the $96 annual membership from $1,600 to $1,920, per View from the Wing. The change is relevant to cardholders because the American Express Platinum card covers Uber One membership through a statement credit, and the American Express Gold card has carried similar offers, so the perk those credits pay for is now worth less.

What to do: If your Uber One is free via a card credit, nothing to do; if you pay cash for it, re-run the break-even math at 5%.
