Expanded to 10 categories with seasonal pricing; top awards nearly doubled

Hilton expanded its award chart from 7 categories to 10 and introduced seasonal (low/high) pricing within most categories, effective March 28, 2013. Properties previously capped at 50,000 points per night for a Category 7 standard room moved into new higher tiers, with Category 10 requiring up to 95,000 points in high season. Aspirational properties such as the Conrad Koh Samui and Conrad Hong Kong saw increases of 60–90%. Elite members gained a fifth-night-free benefit on standard room awards of five or more consecutive nights, replacing prior longer-stay discounts.

What to do: The lasting lesson is that aspirational fixed-chart redemptions can disappear overnight; redeem high-value hotel points promptly rather than stockpiling.
