Full program relaunch with new distance-based chart and dynamic Air Canada pricing
Air Canada relaunched Aeroplan on November 8, 2020 after taking the program in-house. A new distance-based Flight Reward Chart replaced the prior regional chart; many partner awards rose (some 30–40% on selected long-haul bands) while carrier surcharges were eliminated on most awards. Air Canada-operated flights moved to dynamic pricing with every seat potentially available. Stopovers, family sharing, and other features were added. Net impact mixed but represented a structural reset after years of stability.
What to do: Relaunches often pair higher base costs with new flexibility and lower fees; model specific routes rather than assuming uniform devaluation.
