Grandfathered Aviator benefits end on converted Citi AAdvantage cards
Cardholders whose Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Red and Aviator Silver cards were migrated to Citi on April 24, 2026 (becoming the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select and Citi AAdvantage Globe, respectively) were told the legacy benefits carried over from Barclays would end on October 25, 2026. Former Aviator Red holders lose the $25 anniversary Wi-Fi credit; former Aviator Silver holders lose 2X earning on car rentals and hotels, the $25 daily food and beverage credit, and the $50 anniversary Wi-Fi credit. Both groups lose the American Airlines Companion Certificate after one final earning at their next anniversary, and the up-to-15,000 additional Loyalty Points benefit ends after the qualification period closing February 28, 2027. Citi notified affected cardholders on August statements; standard Citi card benefits are unchanged.
What to do: If the companion certificate was your reason for keeping the card, note your next anniversary date and decide before the following renewal.
