Lowest awards become restricted “Light” fares; Standard awards rise 25–30%
lowest Standard (current) → Light (same miles) / Standard (+25–30% miles)
Effective September 8, 2026, Flying Blue introduces Light, Standard, and Flex award fare options for all new reward bookings on Air France and KLM operated flights. The previous lowest award prices move into the restricted Light tier (no changes or refunds, limited or no checked bags, no advance seat selection, and no lounge access even in business class). Standard awards—the closest equivalent to today’s awards—cost roughly 25–30% more miles while restoring most prior benefits (checked bags, lounge access in business, changes/refunds for a fee). Flex awards cost substantially more miles but include free changes/refunds and lower cash taxes in some cases. Partner awards and mixed itineraries are unaffected. Elite status can override many Light restrictions.
What to do: Book any needed Air France/KLM awards before September 8 to lock current unrestricted terms; after that date, compare Light vs Standard carefully or use partner-program awards.
