Award bookings for others restricted to a pre-registered "My List" of four members

In mid-June 2026 (date approximate; announced May 12 and live the week of June 16), Qatar Airways Privilege Club stopped allowing members to redeem Avios for any traveler and now requires the passenger to be on the member's "My List," which holds up to four other Privilege Club members and is subject to a 30-day account maturity period. Creating a list also requires having credited a Qatar Airways or partner flight or holding a co-branded card, so members who only transfer bank points or move Avios from British Airways initially could not book for anyone but themselves. On July 22, 2026 Qatar exempted Gold and Platinum members, who may book for any traveler through the contact center. The change affects U.S. members who transfer to Privilege Club from American Express, Citi, Capital One or Bilt.

What to do: If you transfer points to Privilege Club to book for family, add them to My List first, and consider whether British Airways or another Avios program is the better place to redeem.
