Free award changes and cancellations removed for new LifeMiles+ subscribers

Effective June 26, 2026, Avianca removed free award ticket changes and cancellations from the LifeMiles+ subscription for new subscribers. The benefit had been a marquee feature of the Basic plan ($50 per month) and above, in a program otherwise known for steep change and cancellation fees. The change was made without announcement or member notification; it surfaced only through updated fine print on the subscription page. Members subscribed before the cutoff retain the benefit for 12 months, with Avianca reportedly counting the 12 months from each member's original subscription date rather than from June 26. LifeMiles receives transfers from American Express, Citi, and Capital One at 1:1.
