Quiet partner award increases plus close-in premiums
In late October 2020 Delta raised many partner award prices without prior announcement and introduced higher mileage requirements for bookings 21–59 days and within 21 days of departure. Examples included Virgin Atlantic U.S.–Europe business rising from 86,000 to 95,000 miles one-way and economy from 25,000 to 35,000. The changes affected multiple regions and further reduced transparency in an already chart-less program.
What to do: Partner awards on dynamic programs can move without notice; lock desirable space promptly.
