Award surcharges sharply increased on Virgin Atlantic-operated flights
In late June 2025 (date approximate), Virgin Atlantic substantially increased carrier-imposed surcharges on award tickets for its own flights without notice, with business class and premium economy surcharges more than doubling in some transatlantic markets. The increase reversed much of the surcharge relief that had accompanied the October 2024 move to dynamic pricing, and mileage prices were not reduced to compensate. The higher fees apply regardless of the award rate found. A further surcharge increase followed in April 2026.
