Unofficial award caps raised or removed at top InterContinental properties

120,000 points (unofficial cap, non-resort InterContinental) → 149,000–227,000 points documented

Around April 4, 2025 (date approximate; unannounced and first documented via FlyerTalk member reports), IHG raised or removed the unofficial award pricing caps at many of its top properties. Non-resort InterContinental hotels previously capped around 120,000 points per night began pricing higher — the InterContinental Paris Champs-Elysées reached 149,000 points, the InterContinental Osaka 192,000, and the InterContinental Bora Bora up to 227,000 points per night, versus a historical 70,000–100,000 range at that resort. The change chiefly reduces the outsized value previously available on peak nights when caps bound pricing below the cash-equivalent rate. IHG has used dynamic pricing without a published chart since 2020, so the recalibration surfaced only through member and independent documentation.

What to do: Check effective cents-per-point on peak dates; the old cap-driven sweet spots are largely gone.
