As part of the June 2026 Sapphire Preferred refresh, Chase is retiring the card's 10% anniversary points bonus, which since 2021 has paid cardholders one bonus point per $10 of total purchases each cardmember year. The removal applied immediately to new applicants on or after June 15, 2026; cardholders who applied before that date continue to earn the bonus on purchases made through October 1, 2026, with final bonus points posting by January 31, 2027. The change first surfaced in early May 2026 via an early in-app notice that Chase later confirmed, and it also applies alongside the separate cut in the card's Hyatt transfer ratio announced in the same refresh. New 3x categories on gas, EV charging, and vacation rentals were added at the same time with no change to the $95 annual fee.

What to do: Existing cardholders' spend through October 1, 2026 still counts; the final bonus posts by January 31, 2027.
