Basic fares extended to premium cabins; lounge access, upgrades and full mileage earning now require Classic or Extra fares

On July 8, 2026, Delta began selling Basic fares in Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One (branded "Basic Business"), alongside Classic and Extra fares in select markets. Basic premium fares carry the same onboard product but assign seats only after check-in, earn fewer miles, include one fewer checked bag, exclude complimentary and paid upgrades and same-day changes, and can be changed or canceled only for a fee. Delta First Basic began flying July 8; Premium Select Basic and Basic Business went on sale July 8 and begin flying in September. Basic Business tickets keep Delta One check-in, Delta One Lounge and Sky Club access through January 18, 2027; from January 19, 2027, lounge entry on any premium Basic fare requires a separate credential such as a Sky Club membership or an eligible American Express card.

What to do: If lounge access, upgrade eligibility or full SkyMiles earning matters, confirm the fare is Classic or Extra before booking a premium cabin.
