Beginning around May 24, 2026 (date approximate; first documented by DansDeals on May 27 and confirmed by multiple outlets May 28–30), American Airlines began removing the T and U saver fare classes on nonstop domestic flights exactly 144 hours (six days) before departure, making those seats unbookable through partner programs such as Alaska Atmos Rewards, The British Airways Club, Finnair Plus, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, and Qantas Frequent Flyer. The same flights remain bookable with AAdvantage miles at dynamic prices, which also carry a close-in surcharge of roughly 2,000–5,000 miles. Connecting itineraries and international routes were not affected. American did not announce or comment on the change, and it closed a long-standing sweet spot of 4,500-point economy and 9,000-point business nonstops booked via Atmos Rewards. Atmos Rewards and The British Airways Club receive transfers from Bilt, Chase, American Express and Capital One.
